QPR - How to Talk About Suicide

Knowing this can be a difficult time of year as we transition into "the next chapter" for many youth, young adults and even we adults, we have been offered the opportunity through our partners with Washington County Prevention to offer a class on "How to Talk About Suicide."  This class will feature Andy Cartmill, WA County Senior Gambling/Suicide Program Coordinator who will present the prevention based QPR model.  

 

QPR, it is an evidence based intervention model that is used world-wide. It is appropriate for parents, coaches, law enforcement, teachers…any adult! It is not for youth, but anyone over 16 can attend because the message/concept applies.  No prior knowledge is needed to take this training. 
QPR (Question Persuade Refer) is an evidence-based suicide intervention model that helps attendees recognize the early warning signs of suicide and teaches how to get a person at suicide risk the help they need. Participants will learn about risk factors, warning signs and common myths about suicide. It is an action plan that can result in lives saved. Participants will receive a booklet and wallet card with summary information at the end of the training.
