Free Savvy Caregiver Training Starts Feb 27

Do you care for a family member or friend living with Alzheimer’s or another type of dementia? Rhonda Kay Leonard and Bill Cohen have scheduled the next series of Savvy Caregiver Training and we still have some spaces available. The classes are free, and research-backed and developed by Emory University. It has been found to decrease caregiver stress and increase caregiver confidence. It will be facilitated by us, trained professionals in the elder care/dementia field. You will learn: • An understanding of dementia • Tips on how to provide the best care • Coping skills for the stages of dementia • Facts about the progression of dementia • Keeping your person enjoyably involved in daily life • Helping your person remain calm and in control • Managing your own personal well-being while providing care, and • Strengthening family involvement in caregiving and identify community resources that can help. You will receive a handbook to complement the classes. Date, time, location: • This is a six-week class. • Classes will be on Thursdays from 8:30 to 10:30 AM, starting February 27 and ending April 2nd. • The class will be held at The Community at Marquis, which is located at 19805 SW Boones Ferry Rd, Tualatin, OR 97062. The Community Cafe has refreshments available. (One or two classes will be across the road in Marquis’ main building). Registration: Space is limited and on a first come, first serve basis. Please make every effort to arrive before 8:30 AM and attend at least five classes. If not, it may be too early to fully benefit. • What is your relationship to this person?
